Six months after its inauguration, Cantina Urbana launches Naviglio Rosso, the "Made in Milan" wine.
The bottling of Naviglio Rosso - the white one before it can be tasted will have to continue its maturation in barrique for a few more weeks - it happened in conjunction with the official public presentation of the Wine Collective Club, the exclusive community of food and wine enthusiasts strongly desired by the creator of Cantina Urbana, Michele Rimpici.
Naviglio Rosso, an iconic wine dedicated to the Pavese grapes in Milan and one of the most popular places in the city, produced in 2,500 bottles, is obtained from the autochthonous "croatina" vine, present above all in the Oltrepò Pavese, with the addition of a pinch of Barbera. The refinement was done in steel, after which the mass was divided into three parts: steel, amphora and French oak barrels. The alcohol content is 13.5%. With tannic echoes, the taste is reminiscent of ripe fruit and is perfect in combination with “zero km” dishes, that is with risotto alla milanese and ossobuco. It is also ideal with fresh pasta dishes with game sauce and medium-aged soft cheeses.

Gentile Thogan is the namesake sausage factory of Varzi from Oltrepò, in the Staffora Valley. Since 1967 the Thogan family, of peasant origins, has been producing cured meats with genuine and natural ingredients, exclusively handcrafted.
It will be possible to taste their specialties such as Varzi Dop salami, coppa refined in bonarda, pancetta, cotechino and seasoned lard. Along stories and curiosities about their production.
